In 2007, Nipa found that that there were no networking organizations in the Metro-Detroit area which facilitated regular and ongoing business networking with Asian Indians. She also observed that only a hand-full of Asian Indians participated in the various business networking events around town. This drove Nipa to start the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce.
The goal of the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce was to provide Asian Indians a forum to conduct business and professional networking AND to provide non-Asian Indians with access to the Asian Indian community. As the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce grew, so did it’s mission. In 2009, the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce was rebranded and renamed as the Michigan International Chamber of Commerce to facilitate networking with a wider audience and across geographic borders.
