Nipa Shah, Founder A power networker; that’s what she’s called and with an extensive network of contacts from across the globe, Nipa definitely fits the description.
Although she spent 19 years at General Motors, Nipa never stopped dreaming about owning her own business. So in 2004, while working full-time as a procurement manager at General Motors, Nipa took the plunge and started her own company, Jenesys Group. In 2008, after spending four years managing two full-time occupations (job and Jenesys Group) and after growing Jenesys Group to an international firm, Nipa quit General Motors to “pursue her entrepreneurial dreams” full-time. In 2007, Nipa found that that there were no networking organizations in the Metro-Detroit area which facilitated regular and ongoing business networking with Asian Indians. She also observed that only a hand-full of Asian Indians participated in the various business networking events around town. This drove Nipa to start the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce was to provide Asian Indians a forum to conduct business and professional networking AND to provide non-Asian Indians with access to the Asian Indian community. As the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce grew, so did it’s mission. In 2009, the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce was rebranded and renamed as the Michigan International Chamber of Commerce to facilitate networking with a wider audience and across geographic borders. As a serial entrepreneur, Nipa is passionate about business. She is also passionate about mentoring women and youths and supports ALL initiatives geared towards helping women’s empowerment and literacy. Nipa is an active blogger on topics related to Asian Indians, Social Media Marketing, and sometimes just to pontificate on life in general. Nipa has a Master’s in Information Systems and a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry. Nipa lives with her husband and two children in Novi, MI.
