Wikipedia defines Advocacy as "the act of arguing on behalf of a particular idea, person, or issue". The Michigan India Chamber of Commerce plans to create an advocacy group that will engage in advocacy on issues and ideas that impact the Indian American community in Michigan.
Purpose
We will represent the members of the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce and the community at large at the local, state, and federal levels of the government. Our mission will be to represent the Indian American community and provide a perspective on issues that are important to the community.
Process
We will form a small group made up of community leaders and members who will represent the Indian American community in Lansing. The group will review important legislation and work with other organizations to bring small business reform.
The group will also keep an eye and take a position on legal issues and legislation, bills and proposals that impact businesses.
Members will have the opportunity to share their legislative concerns and provide feedback to the Michigan India Chamber of Commerce by responding to the various surveys, email blasts, and blogs that will be sent or posted on the www.miicc.com web site.
Our commitment
Your feedback to us will be kept 100% confidential. All feedback will be collected and forwarded to key legislators thus high-lighting Indian American involvement in local and state legislative issues.
